A Dam Incident In North Vancouver Has Killed One Person & Others Had To Be Rescued
RCMP and other emergency services are North Vancouver's Capilano River, rescuing people who may have been swept up in a sudden wall of water.
Global News reported that the Cleveland Dam was opened in the afternoon on Thursday, October 1, and it caught people who were downriver up in the water.
One person has died, and according to CBC, the B.C. Coroners Service is investigating the cause of death.

A video posted to Twitter shows the Cleveland Dam releasing a massive amount of water, and according to the poster, it happened on the same day shortly before 2 p.m.
The dam holds back a man-made lake that helps to supply Metro Vancouver with drinking water and the breathtaking spillway is 300 feet long.
CTV News said that emergency crews had to save two people from the water already and others were able to get to shore safely on their own after rising water picked them up.
The District of North Vancouver Fire Rescue Services said in a tweet that people should always wear personal flotation devices by the rivers.
