This little town is wrapped in the peaks of the Canadian Rockies, with views around every turn and fresh mountain air in every breath. It's a hidden gem, but people are taking notice of the dreamy getaway spot.

As the tourism website says, Fernie is a place where "small town charm meets adventure," offering something for everyone.

We asked the Narcity Facebook audience what their favourite hidden gems are, that tourists don't know about, and Fernie got a shout out.

The downtown streets of the small city are filled with local shops, set in historic buildings that add to the charm. The main streets here has a cool vibe, lined with brick buildings with mountain peaks behind.

The vibrant community of the little city is one thing, but the surrounding nature is the big draw here. It's nestled in the tranquillity of the mountains, an 11-hour drive from Vancouver and a three-hour drive from Calgary.

Fernie Alpine Resort is a big draw here in the winter, where you'll find powdery snow and a classic ski town vibe. If you're down for a mountain adventure you'll find it here, with skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and biking all within arms reach of the town.

Winter doesn't just mean cozying up indoors here. The landscape pushes you to go and explore no matter the weather, rewarding you with unreal views and epic experiences.

Summer is just as beautiful, with sparkling lakes to swim in and mountain peaks to climb to.

Between the laid-back vibe, funky atmosphere and surrounding beauty of this town, it's not hard to see why it holds a special place in the hearts of many.
