From little oceanside towns tucked away on islands to bustling city escapes, Canada is full of destinations where you can get away and relax as a couple.

We polled our audience to see what the most romantic spots in the country are, where people love to escape daily life with their partner.

Readers from around the country piped in, sharing their favourite cities to travel to for a romantic getaway. Well-known cities like Montreal and Québec City were at the top of the list, but less popular spots also got some praise, like P.E.I's Charlottetown and Tofino on Vancouver Island.

While Tofino is a go-to summer destination, the small town might not be your first thought for a romantic getaway. Think again though, because the picturesque town is full of a couple of activities.

Summers here mean beach strolls at sunset, ocean swims, and rainforest hikes. The off-season though has a cozier vibe, ideal for couples wanting to escape busy crowds and retreat into nature.

Take a trip out onto the water in the Tofino Floating Sauna, where you can drift off into the wilderness with no wifi or cell service, and stay toasty in the heat of the wood-fired sauna.

Or you can opt for the scenic boat ride to Hot Springs Cove, where you'll wander along a boardwalk through a forest to get to natural hot springs overlooking the ocean.

Perhaps you don't want to venture outdoors though, in which case you can curl up in one of the luxurious resorts here, watching out the window at the crashing waves of the stormy season, winding down to the sound of the rain.

Book that trip and get ready to soak up the unbelievable views, the raw nature, and the slow pace of life here.
