This Epic Boat Cinema Will Float Into Vancouver This Summer

Watch movies from a boat! 🛥️
Staff Writer

It is a fun twist on the retro drive-in, but there are no cars in sight. We all can agree, there is something extra magical about watching films outdoors under the stars. But for the ultimate night to remember, you can float on the water next to a giant screen. That's right, at Vancouver's floating cinema, you can watch movies in boats this fall.

We are thrilled that Beyond Cinema is returning with a new Floating Cinema. It will take place for one week only from Wednesday, September 16 to Sunday, September 20, from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

This year things will look very different. The movie theatre will be made up of 12 to 24 mini boats that can hold up to eight people.

To join in the fun, you'll need to invite a few of your friends to join you. As tickets are sold for the entire boat, to ensure everyone practices social distancing.

But that means you will have your private movie night, with your closest pals.

Just picture it; you could set sail and snack on free buttery popcorn with your closes friends. If you are feeling extra hungry, there will be a variety of delicious sweet and savoury snacks for sale too.

The lineup will be a mix of classic oldies you'll be delighted to rewatch and new releases.

The location, ticket cost, and movie list are still a mystery, but they won't be for long. To keep up to date on new information, you can pre-register for tickets for free.

That means you'll be the first to find out in the city when tickets are available. It's also officially coming to Calgary, too.

Once you can buy tickets, the movie schedule will be released so you can pick an evening based upon what you want to see.

Hopefully, they won't be playing Jaws because that would be too scary for us.

It is time to start planning which friends you want to take with you aboard your ship.
