This picturesque little town set on a B.C. island was named among the best in the country to call home. With miles of sand, a hidden gem feel, and quaint shops — it's not hard to see how it earned the title.

Qualicum Beach was dubbed one of the best Canadian small towns to live in, according to a Narcity poll. It's a dreamy spot nestled on Vancouver Island, about 40 minutes from Nanaimo. It's that perfect balance of being just far enough from the city streets to feel removed, but close enough to have access to amenities.

The slow-paced beauty of this little town is at the forefront, with pristine beaches, endless hiking trails, and the ocean air wafting through it.

Downtown Qualicum Beach is where you'll find unique boutiques, local galleries, cafes, and restaurants. It all has a quaint feel with postcard-worthy streets and lots of local shopping.

Just beyond the vibrant streets, you'll find a sparkling waterfront to wander along.

Another local spot that can't be missed here is the Old Country Market, which is famed for its goats that walk along the roof of the building. The adorable market is in Coombs, just a ten-minute drive from Qualicum Beach.

Drive five minutes from town and you'll reach the Heritage Forest, where you can explore 50 acres of lush nature and old-growth trees.

Englishman River Falls Provincial Park is another spot nearby, where you'll find vibrant greenery and towering trees, plus beautiful emerald green water.

You can take your pick of shorelines to explore, with long stretches of velvety sand exposed at low tide. A popular one here is Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park, which is especially stunning at sunset.

It's hard not see why people love this spot – with its quaint town, breathtaking scenery, and wilderness beyond.
