Canadians say they'd 'love' to move to this cozy BC small town that's like a slice of Europe

It's just an hour outside of Vancouver!

Person on a street. Right: A small town street.

A small town near Vancouver with European vibes.

This small town tucked away just outside of Vancouver is like a little slice of Europe, with quaint shops lining pedestrian alleys and historic buildings that add to the charm of it all. Twinkling lights are strung up, giving a dreamy ambiance to an afternoon spent wandering the local boutiques and restaurants here.

When it comes to adorable B.C. small towns, there's no shortage, but this one is beloved by Canadians, dubbed by Narcity readers as one of the top small towns in the country they would "love to move to."

Chilliwack is actually a small city, but it has all of the small-town vibe and tight-knit feel to it, while still having access to everything you need. It's the kind of place where abundant nature is all around, but it's balanced with a lively downtown and lots to do.

The European twist comes in when you get to the District 1881 area of downtown. The walkable neighbourhood, inspired by European villages, is brimming with local businesses.

It's the perfect spot for a fun weekend afternoon, where you can grab a coffee from Smoking Gun, explore the cute shops, and unwind with a drink at the wine bar.

Among the quaint alleys and charming streets are beautiful murals, which are all around downtown Chilliwack.

If it's not the charming downtown of Chilliwack that draws people in, it might be the abundant nature surrounding it that tempts them. It's especially stunning during the fall months when the valleys get washed in colour.

Exploring can also take you to the surrounding farms here, from quaint pumpkin patches and corn mazes to sprawling flower fields.

With natural beauty, downtown charm and local farms all around, we can see why Canadians want to call this place home.
