Walmart is lowering prices for hundreds of essential items to save you money when shopping at stores in Canada.

Even more products are getting discounted soon, so here's what you need to know.

Walmart Canada just announced that it is lowering the Every Day Low Price of hundreds of staple items to help Canadians save money and help with the rising cost of living.

Every Day Low Prices at Walmart is an initiative to pass savings onto customers.

It offers consistent low pricing on products that shoppers always buy.

That's meant to save you time and money on the total cost of your basket.

Walmart said that it is working to have these items in stock consistently so you don't have to go to another store to find what you need.

If you're wondering what you can save on now that prices are going down, there are hundreds of products you can get for cheaper now.

That includes some fresh fruits and vegetables, water, cheese, ground beef, toilet paper, shampoo and more.

These prices have been dropping since February, and more items will continue to be discounted in stores and online.

With the Every Day Low Prices at Walmart, a family of four can save more than $450 a year on average by doing their weekly grocery shop at Walmart as compared to major grocery stores in Canada.

That's the equivalent of more than two weeks of groceries, according to Walmart.

"At a time when Canadians are feeling more financially stretched than ever, we've lowered the price of hundreds of key items across our stores and website," said Venessa Yates, president and CEO of Walmart Canada.

"Customers can trust that on their total grocery shop, they will save money at Walmart," Yates said.

Every Day Low Prices aren't the only way Walmart is offering savings to shoppers in Canada right now.

More than 8,000 new Rollbacks have been added both in-store and online for apparel, electronics, health and wellness, and more products.

With the Rollback program, the Every Day Low Prices are even cheaper.

Also, Walmart noted that you can save money when you buy essentials through Walmart brands (which include Great Value) rather than national name brands because those products are 33% cheaper on average.

Earlier this year, Narcity asked what Canada's best cheap grocery stores are, and Walmart ranked as one of the top choices for Canadians.

It was also named one of the favourite grocery stores in Canada by Canadian shoppers!
