'White House Karen' Is Trending Online As Trump Still Refuses To Concede The Election

He's not the only one who's been accused of being a "Karen," either. 😬
Managing Editor, Canada

As incumbent president Donald Trump continues to claim the U.S. election was fraudulent, he’s been nicknamed the “White House Karen” by thousands of social media users.

On Monday, November 16, Trump posted multiple tweets about the accuracy of the American election result and about the ongoing pandemic.

Two of the posts referred to COVID-19 as “the China Virus” and the “China Plague” while another simply said, “I WON THE ELECTION.”

The tweets didn’t go unnoticed, however, as social media users joined in their thousands to describe Trump as the “White House Karen.”

As of 1:30 p.m. EST, there were more than 29,000 tweets about the phrase, including hundreds of memes.

Social media users called-out the president for refusing to accept the U.S. election result and for attempting to claim credit for news that an American COVID-19 vaccine could be almost 95% effective.

The definition of a “Karen,” according to BBC News, is somebody who “exhibits behaviours that stem from privilege.”

An example of this behaviour is to demand to "speak to the manager" when they’re not getting their own way.

Trump wasn't the only one who got a new nickname on Monday, either.

Hours earlier, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk was called a "Space Karen," after he posted several tweets about the effectiveness of COVID-19 testing.
