A rogue Kamloops deer gave a local man quite a fright when he was on his way to bed on Saturday, January 23.

According to local police, the deer had somehow entered through the dog door and was "smashing, thrashing, and trying to evade police."

Apparently, the animal created a serious ruckus, damaging the man's TV and several other household items.

“Wild life inside a house can be extremely destructive,” said Constable Crystal Evelyn, media relations officer for the Kamloops RCMP

“In this case, police were able to safely help the deer out, preventing any further harm from occurring to the animal or the house.”

They had to put a blanket over the deer's head, hold it down, place a rug underneath it, and slide it out of the house.

Police say that it seemed uninjured apart from a cut on its mouth that it got while breaking in through the dog door.

"Picture frames and candle sticks, a table had been knocked over and of course, my pride and joy, the 60-inch LG [television] had a massive hole in it. He really hit that TV. He jumped at it about three times," the homeowner, Todd Mason, told CBC News
