This beautiful small town in Alberta will make you feel like you've stepped into a fall fairytale, with golden trees covering the mountain landscape, dreamy streets brimming with local shops, and picturesque views around every turn.

It's the perfect escape from the city for a cozy weekend, ora spot to add to your Alberta trip itinerary.

Culture Trip recently released a ranking of the most because small towns and villages in Canada, and Banff scored a spot among the top 20.

Tucked away in the wilderness of Banff National Park, this little town is a popular tourist spot for good reason. It has all the conveniences of a bustling community but untouched nature at its doorstep. When autumn hits, the charm level gets turned up a few notches.

Strolling around the quaint town in the crisp fall air, you'll be surrounded by extra splashes of colour.

Dive deeper into the unreal nature of the park, and you'll find trails leading you into the golden landscape of the larch trees. For a short period, usually kicking off mid-September, these trees turn a brilliant shade of yellow and light up the forest.

You can take your pick of challenging hikes or easy viewpoints to drive up to, because the park has countless trails. The Larch Valley Trail is particularly stunning in the fall with sweeping views of the trees.

You can get unbelievable views without much work though, even just strolling down Banff Avenue and popping into the local boutiques and shops.

Looking out the car window also gives you breathtaking views here. The drive from Calgary is only an hour and a half long, but you feel like you're far away from city life here, with the mountains replacing skyscrapers.
