A Calgary Chicken Plant Has An Outbreak Of 24 COVID-19 Cases But It's Staying Open

Contributor

Lilydale Chicken Processing Plant has recorded 24 COVID-19 cases in a recent outbreak but, as of now, it's not closing its doors.

A union representing its workers is calling for the temporary closure of the facility following this Calgary chicken plant outbreak so that employees can self-isolate and the facility can be thoroughly cleaned.

Thomas Hesse, President of United Food and Commercial Workers Union

Hesse added that it's an "old" and "crowded" plant; therefore, he doesn't know which "nooks and crannies" germs may be hiding in.

It's the second time a COVID-19 outbreak has been recorded at this plant.

Narcity has reached out to the plant for comment. We will update this article when we receive a response.
