Be careful out there, Calgary.
On Friday, July 17, Environment Canada placed the city of Calgary under a "severe thunderstorm" watch. These storms are set to form in the foothills in the afternoon and could have dramatic effects on Calgary's weather.
Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.
The warning could be extended to include other parts of southern Alberta later in the day.
The weather agency advises locals to remain indoors as large hail can destroy property and hurt people.
Whereas "strong wind gusts" are known to throw loose objects into the air and even overturn large vehicles in extreme scenarios.
