Disease Expert Dr. Fauci Says Canada Is Now 'Getting Into Trouble' With COVID-19

Although he says "the entire planet" is also in trouble. 😳
Managing Editor, Canada

One of the world’s leading disease experts has spoken out about COVID-19 in Canada — and he says the country could be “getting into trouble.”

In an interview with CBC News, The U.S.’s Dr. Anthony Fauci explained that while Canada “was supposedly doing so well," the situation is beginning to deteriorate.

Fauci, the director of the U.S. National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases, continued, “It [Canada] is also getting into trouble."

“There's a lot of community spread."

Right now, the entire planet is in trouble. If you look at almost every country, there are very few exceptions. Dr. Anthony Fauci

Canada wasn’t the only country the disease expert expressed concern about during the interview.

In fact, he said, “the entire planet is in trouble.”

In the European Union and the United States, Fauci described the number of new infections as “out of sight.”

Despite his concerns, he admitted the news of two promising vaccine candidates was “extraordinary” and “strikingly impressive.”

While there could be hope on the horizon, Fauci took a similar approach to Justin Trudeau, and urged countries not to “abandon public health measures” until then.

"I see the vaccine as 'help is on the way,' and it's the light at the end of the tunnel — but we still have a long way to go," he said.
