Duties of a CRA auditor include:

  • auditing taxpayers' returns, books, records, taxpayer requests, and supporting documents to confirm and enforce compliance
  • compiling information to assist in the collection of taxpayer debt
  • planning how audits will be conducted
  • discussing issues, proposed reassessments, and recommendations about penalties and interest with taxpayers or their representatives
  • identifying and gathering data for international, valuation, tax incentive, tax avoidance, tax evasion, and third-party noncompliance issues

The CRA salary for the auditor positions is between $95,745 and $117,752 a year.

People living in Canada and Canadian citizens and permanent residents living abroad can apply for these CRA jobs.

If you want to get hired, you need to be eligible to get a designation from a recognized professional accounting association or have a degree from a post-secondary institution with a specialization in accounting.
