In a new statement about COVID-19, Dr. Theresa Tam is urging Canadians to limit their errands and outings as the holiday season is about to kick into high gear.

On November 25, the country's top doctor talked about public health measures and restrictions that have been strengthened in many parts of Canada.

She said that participation from the public is "vital" and that's why Canadians are being called on to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

There are things that Canadians can do to stop the spread.

"It is safest for all of us to limit errands and outings to just the essentials, limit in-person activities to just our existing household members, and keep up with key prevention practices," Dr. Tam said.

Those practices include staying home if you have symptoms, practicing physical distancing, washing your hands, wearing a mask and avoiding the 3Cs.

That's crowded places, closed spaces, and close contact situations.

Dr. Tam has previously said that we can't let our guard down during the holidays and that we need to have "the talk" about what will happen then.
