Alphonso Davies Came To Canada As A Refugee & Now He Makes Multi-Millions

On Sunday, August 23, 19-year-old Alphonso Davies broke records by becoming the first and only male Canadian soccer player to lift the Champions League Final cup.
With his team, Bayern Munich, the teenager defeated Paris St. Germain 1-0, making history in the process.

Davies is not one of the first ever Canadians to win a Champions League Final trophy, but also one of the youngest players to ever do so.
Not yet 20-years-old, Davies has already received a special message from the Prime Minister and a Twitter follow from Drake.
These things, impressive as they are, are even more inspiring given the soccer star’s humble beginnings.
Before being signed to one of the world’s most prominent soccer teams, and earning multi-millions every year, Davies lived in Buduburam, a Ghanaian refugee camp.
According to Bundesliga, Germany’s official soccer league, Davies’ parents fled civil war in Liberia, and life was pretty tough.
"It was hard to live because the only way you survive sometimes is you have to carry guns," explained Alphonso's father.
The family were able to use a resettlement program, and they immigrated to Canada when the soccer superstar was just five years old.
Arriving in Edmonton as a youth, it didn’t take long for Davies’ incredible talent to get noticed.
At 14 years old, he was enrolled in the Vancouver Whitecaps’ residency program.
Before long, the new-Edmontonian was representing Canada at international soccer events. In 2017, he was called up to play for the senior squad. He’d obtained his Canadian citizenship just seven days prior.
By 2019, the midfielder had signed a record-breaking five-year deal with Bayern Munich, one of the most successful teams in Europe.
Now, according to Forbes, the 19-year-old could be earning anywhere between $5 million and $5.5 million per season.
Now dubbed by some as one of the world’s best, and with countless new soccer records under his belt, it seems Davies’ meteoric rise continues.
