Forget an apple pie, masks are the new thing to add to your fast-food order at drive-thrus in Alberta.

The provincial government is working with Tim Hortons, A&W, and McDonald's to hand out 20 million masks starting on July 13.

The first phase of free mask distribution in Alberta was a huge success,

Tyler Shandro, Alberta's Minister of Health

This is the second phase of the program to hand out free non-medical masks at drive-thrus in Alberta and the first phase was announced on May 29, 2020.

It was intended to make it easier for the public to have access to face masks and it was a big success.

It's not just your local Timmies getting the masks from the government, other groups like Indigenous communities, shelters, and places of worship will also get them.
