You can make up to $26 an hour working on election day or at advance polls.

Elections Canada is looking to hire close to 250,000 people to staff polling stations all over Canada.

Canada's federal general election is on Monday, April 28, 2025.

Advance polling days are Friday, April 18, Saturday, April 19, Sunday, April 20 and Monday, April 21, 2025.

With Elections Canada jobs, you can work at a polling station on election day or at an advance poll.

You must be a Canadian citizen and at least 16 years old on the polling day to get hired.

Also, you need to have:

  • basic literacy skills (reading, writing and comprehension)
  • basic interpersonal skills, including the ability to be impartial and deal with people who might be impatient
  • the ability to serve electors with disabilities
  • the ability to perform repetitive tasks
  • basic analytical skills
  • attention to detail
  • the ability to follow directions and adhere to standards
  • the ability to learn quickly
  • the ability to work long days that are at least 13 hours

You'll ensure polls are set up, supervise and provide breaks for poll workers, supervise the counting of ballots, ensure voters and candidates' representatives follow guidelines, and manage the collection and return of election materials.

Salary: $20.01 an hour, plus overtime paid at one and a half times the hourly rate

Who Should Apply: You need to have experience receiving, understanding and recording personal information from the general public, experience completing paperwork or forms, and experience in conflict resolution.

Also, you must be polite and courteous.

You'll set up the registration desk and prepare the polling place, explain the registration process and ID requirements, verify IDs and addresses, complete forms for registration, and help count ballots on election night.
