Now that the 2025 federal election has been called, Elections Canada is hiring across the country.
You can make up to $26 an hour working on election day or at advance polls.
Elections Canada is looking to hire close to 250,000 people to staff polling stations all over Canada.
Canada's federal general election is on Monday, April 28, 2025.
Advance polling days are Friday, April 18, Saturday, April 19, Sunday, April 20 and Monday, April 21, 2025.
With Elections Canada jobs, you can work at a polling station on election day or at an advance poll.
You must be a Canadian citizen and at least 16 years old on the polling day to get hired.
Also, you need to have:
- basic literacy skills (reading, writing and comprehension)
- basic interpersonal skills, including the ability to be impartial and deal with people who might be impatient
- the ability to serve electors with disabilities
- the ability to perform repetitive tasks
- basic analytical skills
- attention to detail
- the ability to follow directions and adhere to standards
- the ability to learn quickly
- the ability to work long days that are at least 13 hours

Central poll supervisor
Salary: $26.46 an hour, plus overtime paid at one and a half times the hourly rate
Company: Elections Canada
Who Should Apply: You must have experience managing large groups to help voters circulate in an orderly fashion, experience dealing with the public, and experience in conflict resolution.
You'll ensure polls are set up, supervise and provide breaks for poll workers, supervise the counting of ballots, ensure voters and candidates' representatives follow guidelines, and manage the collection and return of election materials.
Registration officer
Salary: $20.01 an hour, plus overtime paid at one and a half times the hourly rate
Company: Elections Canada
Who Should Apply: You need to have experience receiving, understanding and recording personal information from the general public, experience completing paperwork or forms, and experience in conflict resolution.
Also, you must be polite and courteous.
You'll set up the registration desk and prepare the polling place, explain the registration process and ID requirements, verify IDs and addresses, complete forms for registration, and help count ballots on election night.
Information officer
Salary: $20.01 an hour, plus overtime paid at one and a half times the hourly rate
Company: Elections Canada
Who Should Apply: You should apply if you have communication skills to provide direction and instructions, experience managing large groups to help circulate voters, and experience completing simple forms with information from the public or clients.
Also, you must be tactful, polite and courteous and exercise good judgment.
You'll help prepare the polling station, greet voters and direct them to the appropriate table, manage lines, ensure the poll closes on time and voters have exercised their right to vote, and help count ballots on election night.
Deputy returning officer
Salary: $20.01 an hour, plus overtime paid at one and a half times the hourly rate

Who Should Apply: You must have experience receiving and recording personal information from the general public, experience completing paperwork or forms, experience dealing with the public, and experience in conflict resolution.
You must also be tactful, polite and courteous and exercise good judgment.
You'll set up the poll, verify voter IDs, issue ballots and provide instructions, update the list of electors and complete paperwork to record that an elector has voted, count ballots, complete related forms and inform the Elections Canada office of the results, and return election materials.
Interpreter
Company: Elections Canada
Who Should Apply: You should apply if you're an Indigenous elder or youth who can help voters navigate the voting process at the polls.
You must be able to interpret English or French into at least one Indigenous language based on the specific needs of the polling stations.

You'll ensure voters provide accepted ID and proof of address, register voters on the list of electors, register people to vote by special ballot, manage ballots and ballot boxes, and ensure candidates' representatives follow rules and procedures.
Information officer (on campus)
Salary: $20.01 an hour

Who Should Apply: You should apply if you can work at a voting office on a college or university campus.
You'll direct voters and candidates' representatives to office management, provide voters with information on accepted IDs and proof of address, direct the orderly flow of people in the voting office, and ensure the voting office closes on time, voters are served before that time and have exercised their right to vote.
