The Ontario government announced on Friday that they will start vaccinating a new age group starting next week.

According to Rick Hillier, chair of Ontario’s COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Task Force, those between the ages of 60 and 64 will now be eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine.

Those who are eligible will be able to get their dose in participating pharmacies near them.

"We're going to follow the best medical guidance that we have and start vaccinating those from age 60 to 64 next week in participating pharmacies," Hillier announced.

Around 500 pharmacies in Kingston, Toronto and Windsor-Essex will be part of a soft launch for the upcoming vaccinations.

Hillier states that the exact locations, as well as information on how to book your appointment, will become available in the coming days.

He also states that the province aims to have a first dose administered to everyone in Ontario by June 20.

"I would like to see us be able to wrap this up, for the first needle in our arms [...] by the first day of summer."
