Regions affected by the increase include Toronto, Ottawa, Peterborough, Niagara, Guelph, London and more. This means that some spots could see gas prices rise as high as 120.9 cents per litre. According to McTeague, this is the highest price the province has seen in over 18 months. The last time residents in the GTA were paying these prices was back in August 2019, McTeague states. The energy expert had previously warned back in December that gas prices in Canada were likely to balloon in the coming years.
