"The areas that are locked down right now, that are expiring on Monday, I can tell you they won't be expiring," Ford stated in a conference that was streamed on CP24.

Both Toronto and Peel were placed into the grey zone on November 23. Originally, both regions were expected to exit the lockdown on Monday, December 21.

However, as cases continue to rise across Ontario, Ford has now stated that this isn't going to happen.

More details on what the extended lockdown will include are expected to be released on Monday.

Ford is also reportedly considering placing all of southern Ontario into a lockdown from December 26 until January 11.

The premier has stated that nothing is off the table when it comes to new measures.
