Over 2 Million Flushable Wipes Are Recalled In Canada Because They Might Be Contaminated

A microorganism that can cause infections could be in the products.

Check your wipes. Health Canada's flushable wipes recall affects over two million Cottonelle products sold across the country.

Canadians are being warned about Cottonelle and Cottonelle GentlePlus flushable wipes because they might be contaminated with a microorganism.

This recall was issued on October 21 and people should stop using the affected products immediately.

2,064,860 units of affected products were sold in Canada

Some of these products might be contaminated with the microorganism Pluralibacter gergoviae.

While that "rarely causes serious infections in healthy people," there is an increased risk of it happening to people who have weakened immune systems, a serious pre-existing condition or just had surgery.

You can seeif your flushable wipes are part of the recall by checking if the UPC code 036000449327, 036000359701, 036000434781, 036000486742, 036000497762 or 036000489859 is on the bottom of the package.

The company said that 2,064,860 units of these products were sold in Canada between February 14 and October 7.
