What's more, it has apparently left some iPhone users in the dark about virus exposures nearby.

According to the report, this is hardly the first instance of a bug as many users encountered malfunctions throughout the month of November.

On November 23, Heath Canada reportedly said they would handle the situation but later admitted that they were only able to solve the issue on Android devices, leaving iPhone users hanging.

Lucie Vignola, director of Health Canada's COVID-19 task force, told CBC News that it's also "built-in privacy features" that are getting in the way of knowing how many Apple users are actually being affected by the problem.

For now, she advises Canadians to open the app once in a while to see if it's up and running the way it should.
