I tried the viral 'Stanley Cup' from Tim Hortons and it left me speechless (PHOTOS)

Social embarrassment: Level 100. 🏆

The 'Stanley Cup' from Tim Hortons isn't your typical menu order.

Writer

My mission to try everything on the Tim Hortons menu rolls on — and this time, I went for the viral "Stanley Cup."

If you've been following along, you'll know that as an Irishman who has recently relocated to Canada, I've become a bit of a guinea pig for all things Tims — whether it's an official menu item or a secret hack making the rounds online.

I've tried nearly every donut, sampled the Supreme Stack straight from Tim Hortons HQ, tasted Ryan Reynolds' latest collaboration — Ryan's Scrambled Eggs — and finally had my very first Double-Double (yes, I know, long overdue).

This marks only the second time I've ordered something not officially on the menu — the first being the infamous 9x9 "Wayne Gretzky" coffee, loaded with nine sugars and nine creams, after The Great One's number 99 jersey. That one didn't go down well — it was just a little (or a lot) too sweet.

Similarly, the Stanley Cup is not an official menu item but a so-called menu "hack" that combines a few other basic Timmies menu items to create — you guessed it — a Stanley Cup. Of sorts, anyway.

The Stanley Cup, which first went viral on TikTok a few years ago, is a medium iced coffee topped with two open-holed donuts and a Timbit stacked on top — think of it as Tim Hortons' answer to a Caesar cocktail.

It sounded weird, sure, but I was genuinely curious.

Placing my order

As I headed to my local Tim Hortons to order the Stanley Cup, I couldn't help but feel a bit nervous — the same kind of awkward energy I had when I asked for the infamous Wayne Gretzky coffee.

It's that slight fear of social embarrassment — the idea that I'd order something the staff had never heard of and end up looking like a total idiot.

And yep, that's precisely what happened.

When I asked, "Could I please order a Stanley Cup?" the server looked at me and said, "Um, sorry?"

I explained the order, but he still looked puzzled. A colleague came over to help and asked, "What's a Stanley Cup?" I pulled up a TikTok video from user @_benoit and showed them the viral creation.

That's when the second server chuckled and said, "Not everything you see on TikTok is real." (Wait — you mean those Olympic-diving cats aren't legit?)

To keep things simple, I just ordered the components separately: a medium iced coffee with a shot of caramel, a Chocolate Glazed Donut, a Honey Dip Donut, and an Old-Fashioned Timbit.

We laughed at how ridiculous the order sounded — but hey, at least I helped with some unofficial Tims training!

Then, it was back home for a bit of DIY assembly.

The taste test

When I got home, I quickly realized I should've asked the server to pour my iced coffee into a quencher cup instead of the usual plastic one.

As I stacked the two donuts and pushed the Timbit through the straw, I noticed it wasn't exactly holding steady — it started leaning off to one side like the Leaning Tower of Tims.

That's when it hit me: How the hell am I supposed to eat this?

So, I bit into the Timbit and sipped the iced coffee simultaneously.

It actually worked — the coffee cooled me down (it was a scorcher of a Monday), and the donut added a sweet kick.

Sure, the presentation is over the top, but at the end of the day, it's just an iced coffee with two donuts and a Timbit on top. I treated it that way — minus the structural engineering challenges.

The verdict

Of course, the Stanley Cup isn't going to become a regular part of my Tim Hortons order because of its overall excessive-ness — but I was blown away by how much I liked it. In fact, I was pretty speechless!

The iced coffee was super refreshing, and it paired perfectly with the softness and sweetness of the two donuts and the Timbit.

It's definitely a bit of a hassle to order, but honestly, every Canadian should try it at least once. There's something incredibly fun about the whole process — from the confused looks at the counter to the final taste test. It was a little like being a kid again!

I actually thoroughly enjoyed it. However, if I order it again, I would ask for a quencher lid with a hole in it (rookie mistake on my part) and try a different flavour of Timbit for variety.

Overall, it was wildly impressive and surprisingly filling for a midday treat.

I'd give it a strong 4 out of 5.

Order it, Canada! Just don't forget to order the items separately and build it yourself to save the employees a headache.

And just like that, another strange Tim Hortons order has officially been ticked off my Canadian bucket list. From 9x9s and Double-Doubles to Stanley Cups, I'm making solid progress.

Here's hoping I spot a few more Stanley Cups in the wild this summer, especially after this article drops.

What should I try next, Canada?
