The famous IKEA meatballs now have a plant-based option that's available in Canada.

As of March 1, you can get the new "plant ball" at locations across Canada if you're looking for a vegetarian alternative to the iconic Swedish meatball.

The new plant-based meatballs have the same taste and texture as the regular ones but are made with pea protein, oats, potatoes, onion and apples instead of meat.

There are no animal ingredients used in the recipe so it's also an option for vegans.

Frozen bags of the plant balls are available for $6.99 near the cash at stores in Canada.

You can also get them at store restaurants for the same price and they're served with the classic mashed potatoes, broccoli, lingonberries and cream sauce.

IKEA also has other plant-based options like the veggie ball and veggie hot dog.

If you go to IKEA often and have a lot of old furniture from there, you can actually sell it back to the store and get credit.
