Jagmeet Singh Brought His Famous Punjabi Poutine To The People In His Very Own Food Truck

Everyone managed to get their poutine despite the truck breaking down!

While campaigning in Montreal on September 2, Jagmeet Singh was giving out his iconic Punjabi poutine but there was a delay because the food truck broke down. How very un-Canadian of it!

Singh tweeted his thanks to the people who were working "TIRElessly" to fix the truck and get it back up and running again. "We'll still get the poutine to the people," he said.

The truck finally made it to Montreal's Parc Raymond-Préfontaine in the afternoon after a delay of a couple of hours. Singh was joined by Gurkiran Kaur and they served up the Punjabi twist on a Canadian classic.

"Nothing can stand between the people and their poutine," he tweeted.

After giving out the fries, gravy and cheese curd dish to the crowd and taking photos with people, the NDP leader revealed that you can text "POUTINE" to his phone number to be sent his recipe.

Singh originally shared his Punjabi poutine for Thanksgiving in 2019 and it was so popular that he later gave out the recipe, too.

It calls for stir-fried cubed sweet potatoes instead of long french fries, gravy made with onions, garlic, ginger and tomatoes, and, of course, cheese curds.

Earlier in 2021, Singh did an hour-long Instagram Live tutorial for his Punjabi poutine that you can cook along to if you want to try your hand at making the iconic dish.
