Jagmeet Singh Just Blasted Trudeau For Calling A Snap Election & He's ...

Managing Editor, Canada

NDP leader Jagmeet Singh has responded to the news that Justin Trudeau has officially called a snap election, accusing the PM of moving to keep "his rich insider friends happy."

In a tweet on August 15, just moments after Trudeau announced plans for a federal election in September, Singh told his followers that "You and your family should be the priority."

"Instead, Mr. Trudeau has called an elxn because he's focused on keeping his own job and his rich insider friends happy," Singh continued. The party leader went on to say that the NDP would fight for Canadians by "[making] the rich pay their fair share & [building] a recovery that benefits everyone."

A few days earlier, the party released their own 115-page campaign platform, which promised to forgive up to $20,000 of graduates' student debt, among other things.

In the days before Trudeau called the snap election, Singh called him out for acting selfishly and accused him of "misleading" Canadians.

Since the 2019 federal election, Singh and Trudeau butted heads on several occasions, with the former describing the latter as "out of touch" and even saying he's worse than Trump. Ouch!
