The Kims are back, and we couldn’t be more excited.

As part of Narcity’s qNa series, Kim's Convenience stars Andrea Bang and Andrew Phung, who play Janet and Kimchee on the hit show, tell us about the new season, what they're binge-watching and what the show means to them.

Although it had been a year between seasons, “when we came back together, it was like no time had passed" says Phung. “We are still this family together.”

And there’s a lot to look forward to in this new season. For Bang, “There’s a lot of new characters that I’m so excited for people to meet."

But how does the pandemic factor into season five?

While some tv shows have faced the pandemic head-on, making it a key part of their storyline, Kim’s Convenience steers clear of it.

And Phung couldn’t be happier about it.

“This show is an escape for people. To be in a pandemic, and to do a show about the pandemic that’s a comedy, I just think would be tough for people to watch right now," he says, "I don’t think enough time has passed."

Kim's Convenience airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m EST on CBC.
