A tragic discovery.
Contributor

Laval Police are investigating the discovery of a fetus found dead in a dumpster in the city. It was located behind an apartment building in the Laval-des-Rapides sector.

Police said two people were arrested following the discovery, a 40-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman. They didn't confirm whether they are the parents.

The estimated age of the fetus that was found.

The two adults will appear at the  courthouse later on Tuesday. The woman faces charges for neglecting to get help during childbirth, under section 242 of the Criminal Code.

As for the man, the SPL told Narcity that he is accused of removal of part, meaning he disposed of "the corpse of a child with the intention of hiding the fact that his mother gave birth to him, whether the child died before, during or after birth.”

An autopsy will be performed in order to determine the exact age of the baby, the cause of death, and if he could have lived after being born very prematurely.
