While the "mountain of fries" is certainly a huge part of what keeps Miami locals coming back, the rest of the menu is just as delectable.

As a traditional Cuban diner, they serve up all sorts of regional cuisines, from Carne Guisada for $9.95 to their Higado de Pollo a La Italiana, chicken liver served with onions and green peppers, for just $9.60.

If you have room in your tummy, the diner also has desserts to top off the visit, from their Fruta Bomba for $2.99 to the traditional Flan con Dulce for $4.35.

This greasy spoon was originally slated to close for good on August 31, but in a last-minute miracle, the daughter of late owner Pepe Acosta, Ely Acosta, decided to buy the family restaurant and keep the legacy of the lunch staple in Miami for a new generation of diners.
