Even More Food Is Being Recalled In Canada Because It May Cause Cyanide Poisoning
After an investigation, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency is recalling even more food for cyanide poisoning risks.
In March, dried apricot kernels from Organic Traditions were recalled because they had excessive amounts of the toxin amygdalin, which can cause cyanide poisoning, and now another food has been recalled for the same reason.
Double Happiness brand "Dried Almond" is being recalled from the marketplace after it was also found to have too much of that same toxin.
It was sold in British Columbia, Alberta, and Manitoba but could have been distributed in other regions as well.
Cyanide poisoning can be deadly and according to the recall notice, symptoms include "weakness and confusion, anxiety, restlessness, headache, nausea, difficulty breathing and shortness of breath, loss of consciousness, seizures and cardiac arrest."
