There is a dried apricot kernel recall happening in Canada right now for products that were sold nationally and could cause cyanide poisoning.

Organic Traditions' Dried Bitter Apricot Kernels is being taken off shelves because it has excessive amounts of the toxin amygdalin.

Apricot kernels naturally contain amygdalin, which can release cyanide after being eaten, but the human body can only eliminate so much of it before it becomes poisonous.

Symptoms of cyanide poisoning include weakness, confusion, anxiety, restlessness, headache, nausea, difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, loss of consciousness, seizures and cardiac arrest.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency's notice explains more details about the recall, including the codes of the product and what to do if you have it in your home.
