Grab your goggles! This majestic Ontario destination is known as "The Freshwater Sea" and it was recently named as one of the most scenic lakes in the world.

The massive body of water is surrounded by white sandy beaches, lush forests and rugged shoreline, making it a nature-lover's paradise.

In a study by entertainment site OntarioCasinos, the lake ranked among the 10 "most scenic" in the world, along with Italy's Lake Como and Asia's Dead Sea. The study looked at Instagram and TikTok hashtag data to see which lakes were photographed the most.

Lake Superior, located in both Ontario and the U.S., came in at fifth place on the list of the top beautiful lakes around the world.

The natural wonder is the largest of the Great Lakes and the largest lake in the world by surface area, which is where it earned the nicknamed "Freshwater Sea," according to the Great Lakes Guide.

The lake is also known for its ancient shipwrecks and has claimed "thousands of boats, ships and canoes" over the years, the most notorious being the Edmund Fitzgerald, according to Ontario Parks. It's even been called the "Graveyard of the Great Lakes."

Lake Superior Provincial Park is a magical place in Ontario where you can enjoy the beauty of this Great Lake. The park offers stunning trails, paddling routes, beaches and more.

There are other stunning parks located along Lake Superior's shores, including Pukaskwa National Park and Pancake Bay Provincial Park.
