An 11-Year-Old Girl Has Died After Falling From A Bridge Into A Canyon In Jasper
Witnesses tried to save her.
A tragic accident took place in Jasper National Park on Sunday, September 20.
Alberta RCMP confirmed to Narcity in an email that acaused an 11-year-old girl to fall to her death at Maligne Canyon.
The female was transported to hospital where she later died.
, Parks Canada Visitor Safety, and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene at the time.
The young girl fromnear Edmonton "had fallen into the water at the 5th Bridge" of the canyon.
"Efforts were underway to rescue the 11-year-old female by individuals at the scene," said the police.
She was later located at the sixth bridge in. She was removed from the water and given medical aid.
The investigation into her death continues with the assistance of the Chief Medical Examiner's office in Edmonton. Her death has been cited as "accidental" by the police.
