Trudeau's official itinerary for September 24 and 25 has him making an announcement during a press conference with Dr. Tam and other officials.

This move comes as COVID-19 cases are on the rise in many parts of the country.

During a nationwide address after the throne speech on September 23, the prime minister said that Canadians probably won't be able to gather for Thanksgiving because of an uptick in cases.

However, holiday celebrations in December might still be salvageable.
