Ontario's fall school plan includes frequent cleaning, extra testing and mandatory masks.

Back to school in Ontario

In a press conference, Doug Ford announced that elementary students would be returning to school five days a week.

However, high schoolers will be returning to in-class learning on alternate days.

Secondary students will also be divided into groups of 15 and will switch between learning in class and online.

Before you head into the building, make sure to grab a face covering. Teachers and children from grades 4-12 will be required to wear masks while in the classroom.

Face coverings for younger students will be optional.

"When it comes to keeping our kids safe, I won't take any unnecessary risks. That's why — the plan we are announcing today — is backed by the latest science and best health advice available to us," Ford stated in the conference.

However, the choice of whether to enroll their children for in-school learning will be up to parents.
