You Will Have To Pay More To Travel Through Toronto Pearson Next Year

It was revealed in a press release that there will be a hike in some airport fees starting on January 1, 2021.
Departing passengers will be paying an extra $5 for the now $30 Airport Improvement Fee (AIF) and three percent more for commercial flights.

Other price changes include a $2 to $6 hike in AIF for connecting passengers.
A $575 rise in aeronautical rates will also be applied for arriving business or general aviation aircraft under 19,000 kg.
The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) revealed that the price changes have been announced after a financially "devastating" year in which they were forced to lay off 27% of their workforce.
The fees will be put towards providing a safe experience for travellers.

"Commercial aeronautical rates and the AIF have not increased at Toronto Pearson for 13 and 11 years, respectively during a period of strong growth at the airport," says the statement.
