Lake County residents may be eligible for up to $3000 through Lake County’s Coronavirus Relief Fund Housing Assistance Program Act, and the application window opens today at noon.

Applications will be looked at on a first-come, first-serve basis, with the application window closing on December 19, 2020 or whenever funds are depleted, whichever comes first.

The funds will be paid directly to your landlord, mortgage company, or utility company.

CARES Housing Assistance

While the total amount you could receive is $3000, your exact payout will depend on the balance due for rent, mortgage, or utilities. Only one application can be submitted per household.

To be eligible, you’ll have to be a resident, pay rent, or own a home in Lake County, have lost a job or had work hours reduced due to COVID-19, as well as be a U.S. citizen who falls within maximum income guidelines per household size. Applicants can expect a follow-up email about their applications.

The program aims to help 400 households but will be returned to the U.S. Department of Treasury if not allocated by December 30, 2020.
