You don't need to go far to discover one of the world's top water destinations. This Ontario spot offers breathtaking views, natural beauty and more, drawing millions of visitors each year.

A recent study by GoPro Alternatives revealed the "world's most iconic water destinations on social media," highlighting top landmarks and destinations from around the globe.

The ranking was compiled by analyzing content across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, highlighting destinations known for their "crystal-clear beaches, dramatic waterfalls, and breathtaking coastlines."

Niagara Falls was named the third-best water destination in the world, beating popular locations such as Italy's Amalfi Coast and the Florida Keys.

Located on the border between Canada and the U.S., this renowned destination has inspired over 4.4 million social media posts — including more than 80,000 YouTube videos — making it the most filmed water location on the platform.

The region is home to three majestic waterfalls — the Horseshoe Falls, American Falls, and Bridal Veil Falls, which cascade over the gorge and boast spectacular views.

According to the study, "Niagara Falls draws millions of visitors each year to experience its breathtaking views and the surrounding Niagara Falls State Park in the U.S. and Queen Victoria Park in Canada."

On the Canadian side, you can enjoy a range of attractions, including boat tours to the falls, Journey Behind the Falls, the Whirlpool Aero Car and more.

It's also a popular destination for honeymooners, offering a range of romantic restaurants and things to do.

Niagara Falls was the only Canadian destination featured on the "world's most iconic water destinations" roundup. It was ranked behind Mauritius, East Africa, in first place, and Maui, Hawaii, in second place.

Here are the top 10 water destinations featured in the study:

  1. Mauritius, East Africa
  2. Maui, Hawaii, USA
  3. Niagara Falls, USA/Canada
  4. Amalfi Coast, Italy
  5. Kauai, Hawaii, USA
  6. Curaçao, Caribbean
  7. Bora Bora, French Polynesia
  8. Florida Keys, USA
  9. Blue Lagoon, Iceland
  10. Phi Phi Islands, Thailand

If you're dreaming of water views, Niagara Falls is the place to be.
