March 11, 2021 marks one year of COVID-19 as an official pandemic and the Canadian Government has just released a one-year update on its social and economic impact. 

The timeline begins on March 11, 2020, when COVID-19 was declared a pandemic.

Other notable dates include March 16, when all non-residents were banned from entering Canada, May 4, when some provinces began to lift their original restrictions, and the month of May in general, when unemployment rates reached a record high. 

In September, kids went back to school, but in December, Ontario went into lockdown and Alberta announced strict health orders.

By January, Quebec had imposed its curfew and employment had declined by 213,000 jobs, hitting young women the hardest.
