Ontario drivers are being warned about dangerous road conditions today after around 100 crashes were reported across the GTA.

According to Sgt. Kerry Schmidt of the OPP, Highway 401 was a wet and slippery mess on Friday morning with traffic building up as a result.

"Over the last 12 hours, we've responded to about 100 crashes across the GTA from Niagara to Scarborough," Schmidt stated.

Motorists are also being asked to take proper precautions to prevent any further accidents.

"When you head out this morning, brush off that snow from your vehicle so it doesn't go blowing off to the cars behind you to cause a whiteout condition," he added.

Environment Canada issued a weather advisory for the City of Toronto at around 8:15 a.m. on Friday.

"Snow continues this morning. Continued snowfall combined with recent snowfall will likely make for a slow morning commute this morning," the warning read.
