Get your camera ready! This Ontario spot was just named among the world's 10 most photogenic lakes, and with its sandy beaches and sparkling waters, it's a magical place for both a swim and a photo op.

In a study, long-haul travel specialists Travelbag have revealed the 10 most Instagrammable lakes around the world, from hidden bays to mountainside gems.

The study looked at over 50 of the world's most iconic lakes and ranked them based on Instagram hashtags and TikTok posts to identify the most beautiful spots.

Canada dominated the list, with seven of the 10 lakes calling the country home.

Lake Ontario came in at number three on the ranking, just under Alberta's Lake Louise. According to the study, Lake Ontario boasts 1,000,000 Instagram hashtags and 37,200 TikTok hashtags, making it a popular spot to soak up some water views.

"Beloved by locals and tourists alike, it offers everything from urban skyline reflections in Toronto to tranquil, nature-filled shores further east," the study says.

"Spring and fall are ideal for visiting, providing golden light and smaller crowds."

The Great Lake is home to some gorgeous beaches, where you'll find soft sand shores and shimmering waves. Sandbanks Provincial Park is one of the most notable and features rolling dunes and three dreamy beaches.

There's also Cobourg Beach, which will have you feeling like "you're sitting somewhere ocean-side in the Caribbean," according to the tourism website.

Lake Ontario is dotted with quaint waterfront communities, offering coastal charm and storybook streets. Niagara-on-the-Lake, Kingston, and Port Hope are a few places known for their lakeside appeal.

One of the most renowned destinations along Lake Ontario is Toronto, which offers waterfront patios, cruises, and more.

Other Ontario lakes featured on the list include Lake Huron and Georgian Bay.

Whether you're planning a late-summer beach day, a fall road trip, or just looking for a dreamy photo backdrop, Lake Ontario proves you don't have to leave the province to experience one of the world's most photogenic destinations.
