Ontario has so many beautiful destinations for a weekend getaway. If you're dreaming of cozy shops, lake views, and small-town charm, you may want to plan a trip to this quaint village.

Recently, on Narcity Canada's Facebook page, we asked readers for the best weekend getaway spots in Ontario. One of the recommended places was this tiny lakeside village brimming with charm.

Bala is a scenic little town located on the shores of Lake Muskoka and Moon River in Muskoka. The destination is home to trendy local boutiques, waterfront patios, events and more, making it a beautiful spot for a peaceful weekend escape.

The town has several attractions to check out, including the Red Canoe Gallery and Bala's Museum with Memories of Lucy Maud Montgomery, which shares stories from the Anne of Green Gables author's time in the village.

The KEE to Bala is an iconic concert venue where you can enjoy live music and performances.

You can also head to Bala Falls and enjoy a picnic by the scenic landmark.

Fall is a gorgeous time to visit Bala when the surrounding landscape bursts into vibrant shades of red and orange. The area is known as the "Cranberry Capital of Ontario," and you can head to Johnston's Cranberry Marsh and Muskoka Lakes Winery to enjoy a Cranberry Plunge and other berry-themed activities. The town also hosts a fall Cranberry Festival, which is complete with cranberry cuisine, vendors, and more.

With cozy vibes and beautiful scenery, Bala is a charming spot for a weekend escape.
