This beautiful Ontario village with quaint shops and warm cafes is like a fall day in England

No passport needed.

You don't need to get on a plane to enjoy a little taste of England this fall. This enchanting Ontario spot will have you feeling like you're wandering through the leafy streets of London, soaking up European autumn charm and enjoying the quaint atmosphere.

Located a road trip away from Toronto, this destination has major British vibes and even shares a name with a popular English town.

Stratford, Ontario, is a beautiful spot to visit during the fall season. Nestled along the Avon River, the area was named after Stratford-upon-Avon in England, the birthplace of William Shakespeare.

You'll feel like you've been whisked away across the pond as you stroll through the charming downtown and admire the historic 19th-century architecture framed by brilliant fall leaves.

There are many cozy shops and boutiques to pop into, as well as warm cafes and tea rooms where you can live your best British life. Spots like Balzac's, The Livery Yard, and Distinctly Tea Stratford will get you in the autumn spirit.

Since fall is all about soaking up the gorgeous colours, you'll want to spend some time exploring Stratford's parks and trails.

The Avon Trail and Shakespearean Gardens are beautiful spots to see the foliage, with leaf-filled paths and crisp autumn views. There are even cozy food trails to check out, such as the Chocolate Trail and the Bacon and Ale Trail.

The destination is known for its arts scene, especially its annual theatre festival, which runs from April to October and features a range of Shakespearean and contemporary shows.

Other attractions in Stratford include the Stratford Perth Museum and the Stratford Farmers Market. You can also enjoy festive fall events such as the Witches and Wizards Halloween Festival on October 11, ghost walks, and more.

If you're looking for a magical autumn day trip or weekend getaway, this quaint city will have you feeling like you're on a mini European vacation.
