An 'Armed Man' Broke Into The Grounds Of Rideau Hall But The PM Wasn't Even There

The man has now been arrested.

The National Division RCMP has confirmed that an “armed man” broke into the grounds of 1 Sussex Dr., at around 6:40 a.m. on Thursday morning. This area is home to both Justin Trudeau and Governor General Julie Payette.

At the time of the incident, neither the prime minister nor the governor general were at home. 

At approximately 6:40 this morning, an armed man was able to access the grounds of 1 Sussex Drive. The Prime Minister and the Governor General were not present at the moment of the incident.

The National Division RCMP confirmed that a man was arrested shortly after “without any incident.”

His identity is not being released at this time, as charges are now pending against him.

No further information has been shared about his motive right now, and the PM is yet to respond.
