Justin Trudeau is repeating his message that the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine in Canada is safe, after a Canadian died from a blood clot that may have been linked to the vaccine.

Speaking to NEWS 95.7 in Halifax on Wednesday, April 28, the PM told Canadians that "The risks of blood clots from getting COVID-19 are much greater than the very, very rare but real risks of side effects from AstraZeneca."

Trudeau explained that all of Canada's COVID-19 vaccine supplies have been approved as safe by Health Canada.

"I have tremendous confidence in all vaccines, including AstraZeneca," he said, adding that he "didn't even hesitate" to get the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine himself last week.

It's a message the prime minister has repeated on several occasions, telling members of the public that the best possible vaccine for them is the "first one offered."
