Parks Canada is hiring snowplow drivers for the winter season.
With these jobs, you can make up to $32 an hour clearing snow at national parks.
The federal agency that manages Canada's national parks, historic sites and conservation areas is looking to staff seasonal positions for the winter.
Parks Canada jobs for snowplow operators are available in a few Canadian cities.
If you get hired, you'll be working at national parks like Banff, Jasper, Cape Breton Highlands, and more!
Here's what you need to know about the positions, including who can apply and how much you can make.
Class 1 & Class 3 Snow Plow Operator
Salary: $28.82 to $32.38 an hour
Company: Parks Canada
Location: Jasper, Banff and Lake Louise, AB, and Radium Hot Springs and Rogers Pass, BC
Who Should Apply: You must have a Class 1 driver's license with an air brake endorsement or a Class 3 driver's license with an air brake endorsement.
Also, you need experience driving heavy trucks.
It's required that you have knowledge of:
- highway maintenance and traffic control procedures
- safety measures and regulations common to highway maintenance
You need the ability to operate heavy trucks up to GVW 60,000 pounds, inspect equipment and perform maintenance, assess and report on road, visibility and weather conditions, and lift items weighing up to 23 kilograms unaided.
Also, you have to be able to:
- wear identifier clothing and safety equipment
- travel over roads closed to the general public
- work under avalanche hazard conditions
- travel and work in various terrain and weather conditions
- work day and night shifts, overtime, weekends, and/or statutory holidays, and on call

Driver/Operator — Road Maintenance
Salary: $24.98 to $27.13 an hour

Location: Cheticamp, Ingonish Beach, and Louisbourg, NS
Who Should Apply: You must have a valid and current Class 3 Nova Scotia driver's license, or other provincial equivalency, with an air brake endorsement.
Also, you need experience operating commercial and heavy equipment such as backhoes, excavators, dump trucks, salt trucks, and snowplows.
It's required that you're able to safely and proficiently operate heavy equipment.
You must also be willing to work and/or travel in varied terrain and adverse weather conditions.
