People Are Trying To Break Down What 'Canadian Cuisine' Actually Is & The Responses Are So Good

Do you consider Hawaiian pizza Canadian? 👀.

Writer

Have you ever stopped to wonder what "Canadian cuisine" actually entails? The culture in the Great White North is so diverse that many people have different ideas of what that list should consist of, from poutine to ketchup chips.

People on Reddit are giving it a shot after being asked, "What is Canadian cuisine," and the responses are so good — and so Canadian.

Unfortunately, with over 300 comments, Redditors have not yet reached a consensus.

The most liked comment is, "Hawkins cheezies and coffee crisp," to which someone responded, "Don't forget the Canada dry ginger ale."

Another person said, "Ginger beef and Hawaiian pizza" and someone added that a "Fatboy and a Halifax donair" should be added to the list.

A Canadian who is cold in this freezing weather said, "Hot dogs roasted over a campfire in -25° degree weather" are a part of the "Canadian cuisine."

Now, do you consider mac and cheese a Canadian dinner? Or only if it's Kraft Dinner? Well, you're not alone, there are others who think it should be a part of the "Canadian cuisine" category.

And what about ketchup chips? Well, it is a very Canadian flavour. Actually, people in the U.S. wish they had it too. Last year, a father and son drove all the way to Canada just to fill their car with bags of Lays Ketchup chips.

Obviously, a list of Canadian foods cannot be complete without mentioning poutine, Nanaimo bars, Montreal-styled bagels and Tourtière.

There are actually a few foods that are categorized as Canadian food and the specialties vary from province to province. You can check those out by reading this list here.

But let's chat, what are foods that you consider to be a part of the "Canadian cuisine" category?
