Managing Editor, Canada

While non-essential travel is not recommended in Canada right now, that isn't stopping some Canadians from looking forward to the future and planning potential trips for the end of 2021.

Research by travel company Expedia has found that there are ten destinations in particular that Canadians are researching for "post-pandemic" vacations in Canada.

The list, which was shared with Narcity, was compiled by ranking Canadian travellers' most common hotel searches for dates from October 1, 2021, through December 31, 2021.

It was the Alberta town of Banff that took the top spot, closely followed by nearby Canmore in second place and Whistler, B.C., in third.

Big cities Toronto and Vancouver round off the list's top five, while Niagara Falls, Jasper, Victoria, Montreal and Quebec City are also ranked in the country's top ten.

Although some provinces have shut their borders to non-essential travel, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recently expressed confidence that travel could restart as early as summer 2021, as long as "everything goes well."
