There's something so magical about winter hikes. The shimmering landscapes, frosted trees and tranquility make it seem like you've stepped into a snow globe.

If you're looking for a beautiful place to hike this snowy season, this provincial park near Toronto is worth a road trip.

Boasting scenic trails and winter magic, it's a great spot to get outdoors and stretch your legs.

Mono Cliffs Provincial Park is a gorgeous destination located about an hour and a half from Toronto in Shelburne.

The park is home to gorgeous vistas, frosty ponds and beautiful trails, one of which takes you right through the middle of a canyon.

According to Ontario Parks, winter and spring are the best times to visit, as you can avoid the crowds and enjoy the peace and quiet of nature.

One scenic trail to explore is the Spillway Trail. The 1.3-kilometre hike leads through a giant, snow-covered canyon and offers incredible views.

You can also explore the Cliff-Top Side Trail which features 30-metre cliffs and gorgeous vistas.

Skiing and snowshoeing are permitted at the park, but the trails are not maintained, so the park asks visitors to "use caution" during the winter months.

Before visiting, be sure to get a daily vehicle permit. These can be purchased online or by phone.
